The Evolv Shaman shoes are some of the most complex, yet most straight forward I have ever put on. Just by looking at the design you know the quality you are about to get.

Shamans are an incredibly aggressive shoe. If you are a beginner or just getting a feel for rock climbing shoes, DO NOT BUY THESE. These are made for the highly competitive or highly trained climbers looking for the top shoe.

These shoes have what you call a toe box. This toe box locks your large toe in place. This allows you to press up on the smallest of foot chips possible. It is quite a wonderful feeling realizing this...

The severe downturn and asymmetry of the shoe allows you to hook your toe, heel, or entire foot onto any hold. This is incredibly useful if you plan on bouldering or have awkward moves with a rope.

The rubber on this shoe is incredibly rough on the bottom. It was made that way to have incredible traction on a route. with such great rubber on the shoe, foot holds may seem meaningless at times (it is a great feeling!).

With many top aggressive shoes, there is rubber at the top of the shoes that protect your toes and quality of the shoe. This is nice because you simply can use this pair for a long time before they get worn out.

With the toe box being so useful, it does have a fallback. The toe box with the incredible asymmetry and downturn makes the shoe incredibly painful for long periods of time. If you walk around with these shoes, it can awkward as well.

These shoes have a tendency to have a longer breaking in period. This lasts around 1 - 2 months.

Along with the Scarpa Instincts, these shoes are pretty expensive. These shoes typically run at $160 - $170.

Overall, This pair of shoes is great for those who are experienced rock climbers looking to take it to the next level. I have used these shoes and if you can get past the pain, they can be wondrous. If this meets your criteria and you are looking for shoes, I highly recommend these as your next pair.
